LoL 26.15 brings duo queue back to Master

The Master duo queue return in LoL Patch 26.15 lets closely ranked Master players queue together, while Grandmaster and Challenger tiers remain solo-only.

The Master duo queue return became part of League of Legends Patch 26.15 when Season 3 began on July 29, 2026. Master players can now queue with another sufficiently close Master player, while Grandmaster, Challenger and accounts with GM or Challenger MMR remain unable to duo.

Riot is reopening only one part of Apex ranked. The developer said duos were manageable in Master but still produced an outsized effect in the smaller Grandmaster and Challenger populations.

The Master duo queue return has narrow limits

Both players must satisfy Riot’s proximity restrictions. A visible Master rank does not automatically guarantee eligibility if one account’s matchmaking rating falls into the protected GM or Challenger range. The client’s queue restrictions are the final check.

The policy tries to preserve coordinated play without asking matchmaking to offset a premade pair across the smallest high-skill player pools. Riot says it will continue assessing whether better matchmaking can support duos higher on the ladder later.

Teams should separate duo practice from five-player play

A coordinated lane or jungle-support pair can improve communication, but duo queue does not reproduce a full competitive environment. Three teammates remain outside the pair’s voice channel, and the opposing composition may punish a plan that assumes complete information.

Use short, visible pings and state the next objective rather than turning duo comms into a private match. Our dragon vision guide provides a shared setup, while our Patch 26.15 coverage tracks the same Season 3 release.

Riot’s official Patch 26.15 notes and linked ranked support page define the exact restrictions.
