Riot removes hard prize caps from Valorant community events
New Valorant community tournament guidelines remove fixed caps on prize pools, entry fees and sponsorship revenue under one global organizer license worldwide.
Riot’s updated Valorant community tournament guidelines replace regional tiers with one global license and remove fixed caps on prize pools, entry fees, sponsorship revenue and spectator fees. Most independent organizers can run events without waiting for case-by-case approval.
The framework covers online and offline competitions, including open and invitational formats. Organizers must still notify Riot through its visibility form and remain responsible for local law, participant commitments and prize delivery.
Valorant community tournament guidelines reduce approvals
Riot says the license can support events ranging from local LANs to large multi-day tournaments. It also removes duration limits and relaxes some naming and branding restrictions.
The permission is not universal. Government entities, professional teams operating under separate agreements, media platforms and corporate brands that are not established tournament organizers may need a direct Riot partnership.
Community events cannot present themselves as official Riot competitions or use protected event labels such as Masters and Champions. Riot logos are also excluded from ordinary event marketing, even when game assets can be used to promote the tournament itself.
Sponsor freedom still has clear boundaries
Organizers may charge players or spectators and sign sponsors, but restricted categories remain. The list includes gambling, tobacco, alcohol, firearms, adult content, cryptocurrencies, NFTs and illegal or counterfeit item marketplaces.
Our GO4LoL community tournament report shows how an official grassroots series is structured. The format tradeoffs guide can help organizers choose between round robin, Swiss and elimination brackets.
The guidelines are a living resource, so organizers should read the current Riot page before announcing an event or signing commercial agreements.
