EDG won a five-map world final in Seoul.

EDward Gaming beat Team Heretics 3–2 in Seoul on August 25, 2024, becoming the first Chinese team to win an international VALORANT Champions Tour trophy. The final went the distance and ended on Abyss.

How the final unfolded

Heretics opened with a 13–6 win on Haven. EDG answered 13–4 on Sunset and 13–9 on Lotus before Heretics forced a fifth map by taking Bind 13–11. On Abyss, EDG closed the championship 13–9. The alternating momentum made the final a test of reset quality as much as tactics.

The decisive factor

Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang produced 111 kills across the five maps, a record-setting total for a VCT international series at the time. His aggression mattered because EDG supported it with disciplined trading instead of asking their star to manufacture every round alone. Abyss rewarded that balance when the pressure peaked.

What the result means

The title changed the competitive map of VALORANT. China’s VCT league was still young, yet its leading team defeated an EMEA finalist on the largest stage. Heretics’ young roster finished an exceptional run one map short, while EDG converted years of domestic dominance and international near misses into the game’s world championship.
