Falcons sweep FURIA to win the Cologne Major

Falcons won the IEM Cologne Major 2026 final 3–0 over FURIA on June 21. The champions closed Mirage, Anubis and Inferno by the same 13–8 score, giving the organization its first Counter-Strike Major title.

The victory also ended Nikola “NiKo” Kovač’s long wait for a Major championship. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov received the event MVP award after providing decisive impact across Falcons’ run.

The Cologne Major final never reached a fourth map

Identical scores did not mean identical maps. Mirage asked Falcons to establish their preferred spacing, Anubis tested mid-round route changes, and Inferno required patient utility through narrow choke points. The consistent outcome showed that FURIA could create competitive halves without finding the closing sequence.

Falcons avoided the common sweep trap of relaxing after map two. Their CT setups continued to protect trade distance, and their attacks did not depend on one opening player winning every round.

Falcons completed a difficult playoff route

The champions defeated NAVI, Spirit and Vitality before meeting FURIA. Each opponent offered a different test: structured defaults, explosive star power and experienced late-round calling. Reaching the final through that route made the sweep less surprising than the headline score alone suggests.

FURIA’s runner-up finish still marked a deep Major run. A final loss should not erase the map pool and elimination matches required to reach the LANXESS Arena stage.
