Paper Rex beat FNATIC 3–1 to win Masters Toronto
Paper Rex beat FNATIC 3–1 in the Masters Toronto 2025 final, completing a lower-bracket run with control on Lotus, Pearl and Sunset to win the trophy.
Paper Rex beat FNATIC 3–1 on June 22, 2025 to win VALORANT Masters Toronto. The victory gave the Pacific organization its first global title after years of deep international runs and made Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto the tournament MVP.
The final completed an upper-bracket campaign built around Paper Rex’s willingness to fight for initiative. FNATIC claimed one map, but Paper Rex controlled the series whenever it could turn early information into a fast site hit or a confident mid-round re-clear.
The Paper Rex Masters Toronto win rewarded controlled pressure
Paper Rex is often described through speed, yet the final showed why speed alone is an incomplete explanation. The team repeatedly created a reason to accelerate: a defender displaced by utility, a rotation shown too early or an isolated duel that could be traded.
That distinction protected the roster from becoming predictable. When FNATIC respected the first wave, Paper Rex could pause and attack the newly exposed space. When defenders tried to hold ground, the Pacific side committed enough bodies to make the first contact tradable.
FNATIC’s map win proved the series was not a mechanical walkover. Their structure could slow the pace and force later decisions, but Paper Rex recovered without abandoning its identity. The official VCT season review confirms the 3–1 result and MVP award.
One trophy changed the meaning of previous near-misses
Paper Rex had already reached major international finals before Toronto. Winning did not retroactively make those teams unsuccessful, but it removed the only obvious gap in the organization’s record and validated a style that remained recognizably its own.
For FNATIC, second place still completed a demanding lower-bracket run. The loss exposed how difficult it is to contain a team that can change tempo without changing personnel. Future opponents needed preparation for the pause as much as the rush.
The result also gave VCT Pacific both Masters titles in 2025 after T1 won Bangkok. Readers can compare the final with our report on FNATIC’s later Champions 2025 appearance and use our Premier playoff preparation guide to translate the review habits into team play.
