NACL Summer 2026 adds groups and an LCS promotion route

NACL Summer 2026 began on July 16 with a new group format and a direct route toward the LCS Promotion Tournament. Ten teams are divided into two groups of five, but each team plays best-of-three series against the opposite group.

The top two playoff finishers will challenge for promotion at the end of the year. Teams at the bottom also face relegation pressure, so the split connects both ends of North America’s competitive ladder.

NACL Summer 2026 uses drafted groups

Conviction and CGG Esports earned group-captain status by finishing first and second in the Spring playoffs. Conviction received the first selection in the group draft, turning Spring performance into a structural advantage for Summer.

Riot’s official NACL Summer primer confirms a cross-group single round robin. Every matchup is a best of three and uses Fearless Draft plus First Selection.

The top three teams in each group advance directly to playoffs. The fourth- and fifth-place teams play a final best-of-three Last Chance Qualifier against the corresponding team in their group. The two winners take the remaining playoff places; the losers enter the NACL Promotion Tournament and must defend their league slots.

The top two can reach the LCS Promotion Tournament

Eight teams enter a double-elimination playoff bracket with a mix of best-of-three and best-of-five series. Seeding also rewards the group with the stronger overall record, so one team’s result can improve the bracket position of its group rivals.

The top two playoff teams advance to the LCS Promotion Tournament, where defending guest team Disguised awaits. Reaching that tournament does not automatically award an LCS place; it creates the opportunity to challenge for one.
