Bodycam rebuilds its sound for Locked & Loaded
Bodycam rebuilds its sound for Locked & Loaded. Reissad Studio adds organic reverb, room propagation, vertical cues, new weapon recordings and clearer fly-bys.
Bodycam developer Reissad Studio detailed a ground-up audio overhaul for the V0.8 Locked & Loaded update on August 21. The second entry in a four-part development series focuses on making sound both more immersive and more reliable as combat information.
Bodycam: confirmed details
An Organic Reverb system analyzes surroundings to generate environmental reflections. Sound will propagate through corridors, rooms, stairwells, windows and open spaces, while improved vertical audio should distinguish enemies above or below. Weapons receive new recordings, mixing, handling sounds and suppression effects alongside bullet cracks, fly-bys and shockwaves.
What changes for players
Competitive audio must balance drama with location accuracy. Strong reverb can sell a concrete hallway, but it cannot obscure the direction of a footstep or nearby shot. Rebuilding propagation and vertical cues together gives the studio a chance to make the same effect support atmosphere and decision-making rather than forcing a compromise.
Release and platform context
The sound article is a preview, not confirmation that V0.8 has already shipped. Reissad Studio still plans devlogs on Trenches and player-driven improvements. Voice chat, footsteps, equipment, drones and RC cars are also part of the audio work, with final behavior subject to the release build and later tuning.
