Capcom released Dragon’s Dogma 2 on March 22, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The single-player action RPG returns to an Arisen, a stolen heart and a party built around AI-controlled Pawns.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 launch: confirmed details

Players create an Arisen and main Pawn, then recruit two additional Pawns made by other users. Vocations determine equipment and combat skills, with options ranging from Fighter and Archer to hybrid roles exclusive to the Arisen. The world includes the human kingdom of Vermund and the beastren nation of Battahl, connected by quests that can change or expire with time.

What changed for players

Pawn knowledge turns exploration into an indirect exchange between players: a companion may remember a route, quest or enemy from another world. Large creatures can be climbed, environmental objects can become weapons, and travel is intentionally limited compared with a checklist-driven open world. Those choices make preparation and route decisions part of each expedition.

Availability and lasting context

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a standalone story and does not require completing the 2012 game. Capcom released patches after launch that added options and improved some performance conditions. Hardware results therefore depend on the current build, while the March 22 release date and platform set remain fixed.

This report separates features released on the stated date from later patches and community expectations. Balance values and platform support can change, but the documented release history remains the same.
