Borderlands 4 launches its campaign on Kairos

Gearbox and 2K released Borderlands 4 on September 12, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles and PC. The campaign moves away from Pandora to Kairos, a world controlled by the Timekeeper.

Four new Vault Hunters headline the launch roster. Grappling, gliding and other traversal tools make combat spaces more vertical, while ordnance and rep-kit slots separate heavy utility and healing from the ordinary weapon rotation. The campaign supports solo play and cooperative groups.

What changes for players

Movement is the structural change. Reaching a ledge, changing elevation or pulling an object can become part of a gunfight instead of a pause between arenas. Dedicated utility slots also reduce the pressure to sacrifice a favorite weapon merely to carry a situational launcher or recovery option.
