Dota 2 ward review: judge the information, not the duration
Vision is valuable when it changes a call before the map changes around it.
Ward duration is easy to count and easy to overvalue. A protected ward may reveal nothing useful, while a ward removed after twenty seconds can expose the smoke that saves a core. A Dota 2 ward review should follow the information into the decision it enabled.
Record the intended question
At placement, state what the ward should answer: a farming route, objective entrance, teleport angle or defensive smoke. If the purpose cannot be named, the placement is already difficult to grade.
Find the first useful signal
Watch until the ward reveals an opponent or confirms absence. Pause and ask whether the team changed lanes, protected a hero or moved toward an objective. Information without a response may indicate a communication problem rather than a vision problem.
Mark when the ward becomes stale
A ward can remain alive after lanes and objectives move away. Note the moment its question stops mattering. Pair this review with smoke timing and the objective guide.
Review three wards per match: one successful, one removed and one ignored. The goal is not maximum survival. It is vision that reaches a decision while the answer still matters.
Editorial note
Vision-review guide checked against the current Dota 2 ruleset.
