Y2Kill launched on Steam on August 23 as a top-down zombie roguelite set during a disastrous New Year’s Eve in 1999. Deathbat Studios fills a drivable New York-inspired city with escalating waves, cash, experience and upgrade cards that can turn a basic weapon into a screen-clearing build.

Y2Kill: confirmed launch details

Weapons remain unlocked between attempts and range from a shotgun to a rocket launcher carrying a $1 million in-game price. Grenades and Molotov cocktails sit beside automatic gunfire, while a filled rage meter clears the screen. Four named bosses guard dedicated arenas and award trophies.

What the design asks from players

Permanent weapon prices give the cash grind a visible long-term target, but mid-run cards decide whether the current attempt survives. A drivable city also changes crowd management because the player can reposition across streets rather than circle one arena. Bosses interrupt wave-clearing habits with more focused attack patterns.

Platform and release context

Y2Kill is a Windows single-player release and uses fictional in-game currency for its arsenal. The million-dollar launcher is a progression goal, not a real-money purchase. Balance patches may adjust card values or earnings, so farming calculations should identify the tested build.

The feature list reflects the developer’s official Steam information published for the August 23, 2026 release. Post-launch patches can change balance, compatibility or content, so the live store page and current build remain the final references.

Dmitri reviews games by tracing their complete loop: how a system is introduced, how it changes under pressure and whether it still produces interesting decisions after the novelty fades. He has a particular interest in RPG economies, tactical combat and performance problems that alter mechanical feel. Every verdict is written for a specific player rather than an imaginary universal audience.
