Who Wants to Rule the World launched on Steam on August 21 as a run-based first-person shooter with one blunt objective: survive eight rounds. Disc Two turns preparation into a wager, letting players increase the next payout only by adding another group of enemies to the coming fight.

Who Wants to Rule the World: confirmed launch details

Each run starts with a bolt-action rifle, submachine gun or double-barrel shotgun and a chosen contestant. Contestants inherit two random traits, including one advantage and one drawback. Surviving a round opens a waiting room where earnings can buy upgrades before the player decides how aggressively to raise the next wager.

What the design asks from players

The wager connects greed directly to arena density. Taking the safest route may preserve a run but produce fewer upgrades, while chasing a large payout creates a harder battle before those rewards can help. Random traits further discourage a rigid opening because weapon choice should account for the contestant’s current strengths and weaknesses.

Platform and release context

Disc Two developed the single-player release and Wadcom publishes it on Windows. Steam lists full controller support, adjustable difficulty, achievements and cloud saves. Permanent unlocks can improve future attempts, but the immediate eight-round structure still resets a failed run to its beginning.

The feature list reflects the developer’s official Steam information available on August 21, 2026. Post-launch patches can change balance, compatibility or content, so the live store page and current build remain the final references.

Every verdict is written for a specific player rather than an imaginary universal audience.
