The Plucky Squire launch arrived on September 17, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Developed by All Possible Futures and published by Devolver Digital, the action-adventure follows a storybook hero who discovers that a three-dimensional world exists beyond his printed pages.
The Plucky Squire launch: confirmed details
The villain Humgrump ejects Jot from the book after learning that he is destined to lose. Jot must then move between flat illustrated scenes and a child’s bedroom rendered in 3D. The official description identifies puzzle solving, combat, platforming and small challenge sequences as parts of the journey rather than presenting the game as one continuous genre.
What changed for players
Crossing the edge of a page changes scale and rules. Objects found on the desk can solve a problem inside the book, while words and pictures on a page can be rearranged to alter a scene. The contrast gives familiar top-down sword fights and side-view platforming a physical frame: the book is an object, not merely a menu between levels.
Availability and lasting context
All Possible Futures was co-founded by former Pokémon art director James Turner and Jonathan Biddle, whose earlier credits include The Swords of Ditto. The launch established the complete campaign across four platform families. Subsequent accessibility additions, patches and challenge modes belong to the game’s later update history and should be evaluated against their own release notes.
This report separates features released on the stated date from later patches and community expectations. Balance values and platform support can change, but the documented release history remains the same.
