Hello Games released No Man’s Sky update 6.4, The Swarm, on May 27, 2026. Its centrepiece was a community expedition built around the Hive of Glass, an enormous hostile craft protected by fleets of agile robotic swarmers.

No Man’s Sky The Swarm: what changed

Players entering the expedition were assigned to the royal, sage or weaver fragment of the Traveller soul. All three teams contributed to construction of the Prismatic Core by completing purge, restoration and sabotage work. The update also added crashed swarmer sites on dissonant planets, planetary enemies, a Direwasp rifle Multi-Tool, a flightpack and themed armour rewards.

How it affects the game

The scale changes the usual rhythm of space combat. Instead of isolating one pirate wing, the expedition asks many ships to attack a common threat while dodging the Hive’s sweeping weapon. Ground objectives then turn destroyed machines into research and restoration tasks. Team scoring adds competition, but the final battle still depends on collective progress across the expedition.

What players should know

The Swarm expedition was announced as a time-limited campaign of roughly eight weeks, while some enemies and discoveries were added to other game modes. Later 6.45 and 6.45.1 patches fixed release issues. Players returning after the expedition window should check which rewards can be obtained through any later rerun rather than assuming the original schedule remains active.

This report describes the confirmed release at the stated date. Live games may change through hotfixes, rotations and later seasons, so a launch feature should not be treated as permanently unchanged.
