Minecraft’s Chase the Skies adds the Happy Ghast
Minecraft Chase the Skies adds the Happy Ghast flying mount, Locator Bar, craftable saddles, new leash mechanics and Vibrant Visuals on supported devices.
Mojang released Minecraft’s Chase the Skies game drop on June 17, 2025. Its centrepiece was the Happy Ghast, a friendly flying mount that can carry up to four players, alongside the Locator Bar, revised leash mechanics and craftable saddles.
Minecraft Chase the Skies: what changed
Players can find or craft a Dried Ghast, waterlog it for roughly 20 minutes and then raise the resulting Ghastling with snowballs. After another growth period, a harness turns the adult Happy Ghast into a controllable mount. The drop also introduced the multiplayer Locator Bar, changed lead behaviour and launched Vibrant Visuals on compatible Bedrock devices.
Why it matters
The mount is more than a novelty because passengers can stand on its back while it remains still, creating a mobile platform for high construction. The Locator Bar changes casual multiplayer navigation without acting as perfect tracking: crouching, invisibility and certain headgear can hide a player. Craftable saddles also remove a long-standing reliance on loot.
What players should know
Java Edition players received the drop as version 1.21.6, while Bedrock used its own version numbering and platform support. Server owners should check the Locator Bar game rule and update clients together. Vibrant Visuals did not arrive on every device at once, so its absence does not mean the gameplay content failed to install.
The information above describes the confirmed release at the stated date. Live games can change through hotfixes, later seasons and platform-specific updates, so returning players should check the current build before treating an older detail as permanent.
