Dead by Daylight brings Springtrap to the Fog

Behaviour Interactive released the Dead by Daylight: Five Nights at Freddy’s chapter on June 17, 2025. Its Killer is Springtrap, named The Animatronic in the game, and the chapter also introduced Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza as a map available to all players.

Dead by Daylight Five Nights at Freddy’s: what arrived

The Animatronic carries a Fire Axe and can deploy to seven Security Doors placed around a trial. From a door, the Killer can switch to surveillance cameras, watch nearby areas and teleport to another door. Survivors can use the same doors, but doing so while the Killer is inside triggers an attack. The map recreates recognisable restaurant spaces while adapting them to Dead by Daylight’s chase lanes, hooks and generators.

How the update changes play

The power converts map knowledge into pressure. A camera can reveal movement without placing the Killer physically at the scene, while rapid travel makes distant generators less comfortable. Survivors receive counterplay because doors are shared infrastructure and a detection icon warns when the camera is observing them. The result borrows FNAF’s surveillance anxiety without turning a trial into a stationary security-room simulation.

What players should know

The chapter did not add a new Survivor. Players who buy the DLC unlock The Animatronic and associated cosmetics, while the restaurant map can appear independently of character ownership. Balance values and perk numbers can change after the original 9.0.0 release, so current loadouts should be checked against the live patch notes.
