Spirit beat 100 Thieves 13–0 on Dust2 in BLAST Bounty

Spirit beat 100 Thieves 13–0 on Dust2 to finish a 2–1 victory in the BLAST Bounty Season 2 round of 16. The shutout secured the last place in an eight-team playoff field.

The series was not a sweep. After Spirit took the opening map, 100 Thieves answered with a 13–4 win on Mirage. Dust2 then reversed the momentum completely as Spirit denied its opponent a single round.

Eight teams advanced from the round of 16

MOUZ, Astralis, Liquid and FaZe qualified on the first day of the round. Liquid beat G2 2–0, while MOUZ also advanced without dropping a map. Astralis and FaZe needed three maps against HOTU and Dendele respectively.

The second day added paiN, 3DMAX and The MongolZ before Spirit completed the field. paiN eliminated Ninjas in Pyjamas 2–0, 3DMAX defeated FUT in two maps, and The MongolZ swept Wildcard.

Those results left MOUZ, Astralis, Liquid, FaZe, paiN, 3DMAX, The MongolZ and Spirit as the confirmed playoff teams.

A 13–0 is decisive but still only one map

The Dust2 score is the clearest number from the series, yet the 13–4 Mirage result matters when reviewing it. Spirit recovered after a heavy map loss rather than controlling all three maps from start to finish.

The playoff field was confirmed by BLAST on July 27. MOUZ later won the event, but that subsequent result does not change how each team qualified through the round of 16.
