Esports observers tell the story before the fight starts
The decisive camera move often happens ten seconds before the highlight.
An observer can capture every elimination and still miss the competitive story. Viewers need to see the setup: the saved utility, the dangerous flank, the objective clock and the player isolated from support. Those details make the eventual fight legible rather than merely loud.
Establish the question
Before contact, show the resource or position that the engagement will test. A quick tactical overview can explain two converging routes; a player view can reveal the narrow information available to the defender.
Cut on decisions, not only damage
Switch when a player commits utility, leaves cover or abandons a route. These choices create the fight. Replays can recover spectacle, but the live feed should protect causality.
Production teams should tag missed setups as carefully as missed kills. The goal is not constant prediction. It is to give the audience enough evidence to recognize the decision just before the result arrives.
