Off Grid launches its 2D-to-3D maze creator. HeliosRK lets players unlock tiles, build custom mazes and challenge friends to finish them faster Read more.
Off Grid launched on Steam on August 24 with a two-part approach to maze design. Players paint layouts inside a 2D editor, then enter those creations through a separate 3D game view. Standard maps unlock additional pieces for more complicated custom challenges.
Off Grid: confirmed details
Floor and wall tiles establish the route, colored keys open matching locks, boost pads accelerate movement in one direction and ice removes some control. Creators choose a map size, name and description before placing the entrance, obstacles and finish. Completed files can be passed to friends for timed attempts.
What changes for players
Switching perspectives is the useful trick. A route that looks readable from above may be disorienting at ground level, while one-way boosts and ice can turn an open corridor into a commitment. Progression through standard maps also prevents the editor from presenting every mechanic before the player understands its behavior.
Release and platform context
Off Grid is a Windows single-player release with a level editor and keyboard-only or mouse-only options listed on Steam. Competition happens by sharing mazes and comparing completion times rather than through integrated online races. HeliosRK developed and published the game.
