Civilization VII Update 1.4.2 fixes a multiplayer problem where one player unreadying a turn automatically changed every other participant to unready. Firaxis released the smaller hotfix while continuing work on a larger September update.

Civilization VII: confirmed details

Selecting Dai Viet during an Age Transition no longer changes the player to the leader’s Historical Apex civilization. Silla’s Sangdaedeung merchant also no longer grants excessive Gold after loading a save. The Switch version will arrive later because it must pass Nintendo submission.

What changes for players

The ready-state correction removes unnecessary lobby coordination from simultaneous turns. The Dai Viet and Silla fixes close progression errors that could redirect a campaign or produce an unintended economic advantage after a save reload.

Timing and wider context

Crossplay between the latest other-platform build and Switch is temporarily unavailable until versions match. Steam users can select the console-compatible-switch beta branch, but that means choosing compatibility over the newest hotfix.

The feature list and timing above reflect the developer’s announcement published on August 13, 2026. Future hotfixes can adjust balance or availability, so live values should be checked against the current client.

For Civilization VII, the practical checkpoint is the live client: confirm the installed version, platform notes and regional rollout before relying on a scheduled feature. Store availability, maintenance windows and certification can create timing differences even when the developer announces one date for the wider release.
