War Thunder Community Update No. 12 previews a longer project to improve bomber survivability and another test of Nuclear Escalation. Gaijin repeatedly labels the material work in progress, so none of the previewed features should be treated as locked for a specific build.

War Thunder: confirmed details

The bomber work uses historical damage documentation and aims to stop brief passes with 12.7 mm or smaller weapons from routinely removing wings or control surfaces. The next Nuclear Escalation test targets Vietnam-era vehicles, aircraft at Battle Rating 8.7-11.0, limited guided weapons and early anti-radiation missiles including AGM-45, AS-37 and Kh-27.

What changes for players

More durable bombers would extend the time attackers have to choose components and angles instead of relying on a short burst. The lower-era Nuclear Escalation test removes many modern guided tools, placing more weight on gun-based air defense and route planning. Both projects need public data before their balance can be judged.

Timing and wider context

Gaijin says Nuclear Escalation could become permanent as early as the next major update, but explicitly warns about delays or cancellation. The post also previews credit for nearby enemies when a ground or naval opponent leaves a vehicle, plus a temporary SPEEDLIMIT decal code through September 1.

The feature list and timing above reflect the developer’s announcement published on August 18, 2026. Future hotfixes can adjust balance or availability, so live values should be checked against the current client.
