Shelve the Potions turns 2,000 bottles into puzzles
Shelve the Potions turns 2,000 bottles into puzzles. Knight Owl Games offers more than 20 handcrafted sorting challenges, cryptic clues, optional cat hints…
Shelve the Potions launched on Steam on August 24 with a very specific first-day disaster: a witch’s cats have knocked more than 2,000 bottles from their shelves. The apprentice must reconstruct the cellar’s organization by reading symbols, notes and environmental clues.
Shelve the Potions: confirmed launch features
Knight Owl Games describes more than 20 handcrafted shelf puzzles, each governed by its own rule. Some orders can be inferred from visible bottle traits, while others depend on hidden clues, special objects or information learned elsewhere. There are no timers or failure penalties.
How the central mechanic works
The enormous bottle count sounds like busywork, but the design divides it into discrete logic problems. Players are meant to discover why an order is correct, not simply match colors. When a deduction stalls, the magical cats can point toward missing bottles, highlight evidence or reveal part of a solution.
Release and platform context
Shelve the Potions is a Windows single-player game with achievements, full controller support, Steam Cloud, subtitles and save-anytime support. The official listing frames it as a cozy organizational puzzle rather than a shop simulator, and it does not include competitive or online modes.
