American Truck Simulator previews Road Trip car buying

American Truck Simulator developer SCS Software previewed the Road Trip vehicle purchase system on August 22. Instead of using the familiar truck dealer flow, players will open a Car Dealer tab on the in-game desktop to browse the passenger vehicles unlocked by owned Car Pack DLC.

The dealer begins with a brand selection and then offers individual models, descriptions, technical specifications, light signatures and colors. A table view compares specifications. Purchased cars appear under My Cars, where a new garage supports paint, exterior and interior changes, cabin accessories, direct driving and vehicle sales.

What changes for players

Separating cars from trucks prevents the Road Trip project from feeling like a simple vehicle-model swap. Catalog comparisons fit passenger-car shopping, while the garage gives ownership a persistent home. Linking available brands to Car Pack DLC also makes purchase requirements visible before a player tries to configure an unavailable model.

Release and platform context

SCS showed Ford, RAM and Dodge as examples tied to the Ford Car Pack and RAM & Dodge Car Pack. The studio says it is still researching additional features and customization, so the preview is not a complete launch inventory.
