Squad 10.5.3 targets crashes and disconnects introduced around mod compatibility in Update 10.5. Offworld Industries says the Unreal Engine 5 storage transition allowed some checksum errors to go undetected, so clients could load outdated Steam Workshop files and reach a server before failing with a network object error.

Squad 10.5.3: confirmed details

The hotfix restores compatibility for Update 10.5 mods, fixes startup crashes involving precompiled shader caches and corrects signature rules that were mistakenly applied to mods containing a PSO cache. It also blocks clients from joining when their mod files differ from the server copy and repairs crashes caused by modded suppression effects from explosives.

What changes for players

Server operators should update before diagnosing every disconnect as a broken community mod. Players who still receive a mismatch should verify or redownload the affected Workshop item rather than repeatedly attempting to connect. The stricter check is useful because it stops an incompatible client earlier, before a network object failure can destabilize the session.

Timing and wider context

Offworld also reverted Minimal map testing assets to their previous form. The update does not promise that every independently developed mod is compatible forever; authors may still need to rebuild content when engine or SDK behaviour changes. A clean checksum only confirms that client and server files match.

The feature list and timing above reflect the developer’s announcement published on August 20, 2026. Future hotfixes can adjust balance or availability, so live values should be checked against the current client.

For Squad, the practical checkpoint is the live client: confirm the installed version, platform notes and regional rollout before relying on a scheduled feature. Store availability, maintenance windows and certification can create timing differences even when the developer announces one date for the wider release.
