Provinces launched on August 21 as a world-building sandbox for creating maps from a blank canvas. Players draw political regions, shape terrain and populate the result with cultures, nations and individual characters before using ambitions to influence the stories that emerge inside the custom world.

Provinces: confirmed details

Terrain tools cover forests, plains, deserts, mountains and snowy regions. Cultures can have subcultures, while nations receive names, colors, flags and leaders. Characters include appearance, age, culture, home province and family connections, allowing rulers and dynasties to belong to the geography rather than exist as detached labels.

What changes for players

The editor supports real-world-inspired regions, fictional continents, battle maps or deliberately strange fantasy settings. Connecting people to provinces and families makes a border change meaningful beyond color on a map. There is no single victory condition, so the value comes from creating a coherent setting and steering its inhabitants.

Timing and wider context

HullHeim developed the game and HullHeim Games publishes it. Steam lists achievements, mouse-only play, save-anytime support and a level editor. Provinces is a creative tool rather than a competitive grand-strategy campaign, and players should set their expectations around authorship instead of conquest objectives.

The feature list and timing above reflect the developer’s announcement published on August 21, 2026. Future hotfixes can adjust balance or availability, so live values should be checked against the current client.

For Provinces, the practical checkpoint is the live client: confirm the installed version, platform notes and regional rollout before relying on a scheduled feature. Store availability, maintenance windows and certification can create timing differences even when the developer announces one date for the wider release.
