World of Tanks Update 2.4, titled Overdrive, delivers the game’s largest effects refresh since 2018. Wargaming rebuilt muzzle flashes, impacts, ricochets, smoke, sparks and visible deformation while also redesigning how gunfire echoes through the environment.

World of Tanks: confirmed details

The update adds new Tier XI vehicles and a German heavy line alongside matchmaking improvements. A new Effect and 3D Attachment Visibility setting can reduce distracting visuals in aiming mode without removing the wider battlefield presentation.

What changes for players

More readable impacts can communicate shot direction and armor contact, but excess particles can obscure a precise weak-point view. The dedicated aiming option gives competitive players a way to preserve clarity while retaining the fuller presentation outside the scope.

Timing and wider context

Dynamic gunfire reflections adapt to the surrounding space, so the same weapon can sound different in open and enclosed terrain. Hardware performance and preference will determine which effect setting is practical for each player.

The feature list and timing above reflect the developer’s announcement published on August 19, 2026. Future hotfixes can adjust balance or availability, so live values should be checked against the current client.

For World of Tanks, the practical checkpoint is the live client: confirm the installed version, platform notes and regional rollout before relying on a scheduled feature. Store availability, maintenance windows and certification can create timing differences even when the developer announces one date for the wider release.
