Dawn of the Hunt introduced the spear-wielding Huntress to Path of Exile 2.

Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt went live on April 4, 2025 as the early-access game’s first major content update. Version 0.2.0 added the Huntress class, five new Ascendancies across the roster and a broad endgame and balance rework.

Path of Exile 2 Dawn of the Hunt: what changed

The Huntress arrived with Amazon and Ritualist Ascendancies. Warrior gained Smith of Kitava, Mercenary gained Tactician and Witch gained Lich. The update added Spears and Bucklers, more than 25 skills, over 100 Support Gems, over 100 Unique items and eight endgame maps. Fresh Dawn of the Hunt leagues offered a reset economy, while existing characters remained available.

Why it matters

A new class affects more than character selection because spear skills, off-hand Bucklers and Supports widen the build vocabulary for other systems. The free passive-tree refund acknowledged that 0.2.0 changed existing characters substantially. Grinding Gear Games also made the added content available in the core early-access leagues rather than locking it behind a paid expansion.

What players should know

The Dawn of the Hunt league later ended, but that is different from deleting the update’s core content. Players returning to an old character should expect later patches and migration to have changed balance and league placement. They should read the current patch notes before copying a build written specifically for 0.2.0.

The information above describes the confirmed release at the stated date. Live games can change through hotfixes, later seasons and platform-specific updates, so returning players should check the current build before treating an older detail as permanent.
