LCS takes its first team Homegrounds event to Mexico City

LCS Homegrounds Mexico City will bring four Summer Split teams to a live audience on August 29–30. LYON is hosting Cloud9, Team Liquid and Shopify Rebellion during Week 6 at Arena Esports Stadium inside CINEMEX Artz Pedregal.

Riot describes the event as the LCS’s first team-led Homegrounds initiative. The venue also has a place in League of Legends history: DRX began its Worlds 2022 run there before eventually winning the championship.

LCS Homegrounds Mexico City tests a regional model

The four participating teams will play their scheduled league matches in front of the Mexico City crowd. This is not a separate cup or exhibition bracket, so the results still belong to the 2026 LCS Summer regular season.

The format gives LYON a chance to stage league competition in its home market while Riot evaluates audience feedback. If the model works, it could create a practical route for more LCS weekends outside the usual studio without turning every road event into a championship final.

Ticket details were not included in the July 26 announcement. Riot directed fans to LYON’s official social channels for the on-sale update, so readers should verify availability there before making travel plans.
